About Elk Forge

Elk Forge opened its doors in October 2000 as a Luxury Bed & Breakfast Inn. We are conveniently located between Elkton, Maryland and Newark, Delaware. Within 10 minutes, guests can access downtown Elkton or Newark, the University of Delaware, W.L.Gore, duPont and many area businesses and attractions.

For approximately 200 years, Elk Forge was the center of an industrious community featuring a Forge, Grain Mill, Saw Mill, Textile Mills and Farms covering 1,000 acres.

It began as the Elk Forge Company prior to the American Revolution and then was purchased by Daniel Lord and was held by his heirs (the Baldwins) until 1981 when it was purchased by the Lendermans.

Dr. Harry and LeAnn Lenderman (BSRN, MMgt.) renovated and expanded the existing buildings to become the Elk Forge Inn and Spa as you see it today.

Along with the Gardens, Landscaping and Natural Beauties of the Woods and River, Elk Forge can help transport weary travelers and romantics to a more restful age.

Elk Forge is host to many Group Meetings, Family Reunions, Weddings, Retreats and Conferences .

Elk Forge is listed in the Cecil County Maryland Historic Historic Preservation Commission as a valuable property in the history and commerce of Cecil County.
